Sheffield Visits

Time for the second post! First of all I would like to apologize to my sweet friend Alie and her adorable new baby boy, Mason (aka...my little boyfriend!). Mason was born in April and I was honored to host Alie & baby Mason's Sip-n-See in May. We had a great turn out and baby Mason got all sorts of great things! I love him and need to see him again soon since it's been almost a month now!

Sheffield flew in on Friday afternoon/evening and we start off the night right with a Mule on the patio. I was dog sitting, so we were at friend Lauren's house for the weekend. After our Mules we got ready and met Mia at LoHi Steakhouse for dinner. I love that place! Then after dinner we met up with Susan at Highland Tap &  Burger where we sat on the patio for a couple beers. It was a somewhat early night since we had the volleyball tourney the next day.

Saturday we met at Wash Park at 8:30pm for our end of the season tournament. After 9 hours of playing (yes, we finished at 5:30pm) and 19 games we got 2nd overall!!! We did great and had a great time winning! :)

 The crew
 The Fields
Our "campsite" for the day and please note Ryan brought a Keg of his homebrew...delicious!

 We never go hungry
Finally a break from breakfast burritos
Raul with the ladies

Hanging out between games

Water got into the cookies...oh No! Yes, Ryan drank that...GROSS!!

Then Saturday night a group of us headed out to dinner then to Mile High Sci Fi. We were exhausted though after 9 hours in the sun and heat.

This weekend I'm off to Houston with my girls Rossi, Susan and Mama Mia! More stories and pictures to come.

I'm a "blogger!"

Hi Friends & Family,

This morning after a good workout, some juice from my juicer, and a shower, I decided that it was necessary for me to start blogging. I have recently started following several of my friends blogs and found myself really enjoying them and thought to myself "I can do this! My life is full of adventures and stories worth sharing!" I hope you all think so. If anything, I think I lead a fun and exciting life and LOVE all my adventures and I think they are worth sharing and would make for a fun blog. One day my blog might look more like most of friends with stories of my kiddos and family adventures, but until that time comes you will get adventures of my life has a single girl in the great state of Colorado and all the adventures I've been blessed to participate in. This blog also serves as a great tool in remembering my adventures not only through pictures, but the stories behind those pictures.

To all my friends that I get to share my adventures with (you know who you are), this blog is for you. Each of you has made my life that much more fun and I feel blessed to call you friends. Thanks for the many memories we have had thus far and I can't wait for the many more. I truly believed we are the funniest and most FUN group of people in this world! I might be bias, but I know that to be true. You all make me laugh the hardest and always know how to lift my spirits.

To my friends I don't get to see enough (you also know who you are), this blog is for you. Our lives are so busy and it's hard to find time to talk on a regular bases, but I know each of you is always there for me. We also have shared in some awesome memories! Those are not forgotten and held very close to my heart. I hope this blog gives you another avenue of keeping up with my life and what’s going on it. When I write these blogs you all will be on my mind and I will see your faces and reactions as you read my stories. You all mean so much to me and you are still VERY much a part of my life and I think of you often.

To my family, this blog is for you. First to my Mom & Dad let me say “sorry” because there will be stories in here you necessarily don’t want to hear, but know that you have raised a daughter who respects you more than anything. I’m truly blessed to have such amazing parents! You both are the root of why my life is so blessed. Again I might be bias, but I truly do have the best parents on this planet! I love you both!

Secondly to my sweet baby Brother, Matty…you might not know or realize this, but you amaze me! I feel so lucky to be your older (not bigger since you tower over me these days!) sister. I remember the day we brought you home. I was so excited because I finally had a sibling to play with! I patiently wait (along with mom & dad) for that special day when our family became a family of 4 rather than 3. Gosh, November 28th will forever be a day I’m grateful for because I became your sister. I hope you enjoy this blog and realize as your sister I want you to write your own story. Life is what we make of it and I want you to know my stories. We don’t talk much and when we do our conversations are usually very brief, but I think of you often and only wish you the best. I love you Brother!

Lastly, to my Grandma Helen, Aunt Kristy, Aunt Marlene & Uncle Bert, Uncle John, cousin Anten, & Mark, I’m so thankful that I’ve gotten the chance to live near you all for the past 7 years. I love being able to enjoy the random Tuesday night dinner or the “let me run by really fast to pick that up” situations. You all are amazing people and I feel so lucky to have each of you in my everyday life. Of course, we don’t see each other as much as I would like, but I value the time we do get to see each other and those random Tuesday night dinners. I also love that you all are more than willing to share your beautiful cabins with me. As you read my blog you will see how many of my stories evolve around your cabins. Thanks for being so generous through the years. I am truly blessed to call you all family.

Sorry for the long entry, but this is the first one. To wrap things up here are a list of things I’ve already experience in 2011. This will get you caught up on what’s been going on in my life.

January:
·         Rang in the New Year in Grand Lake at the cabin with Rob (the man friend), Laura Margason, Gretchen & Curtis Andrus. Wonderful weekend with lots of games, beer, and COLD weather! If my memory services me correctly it was -22 on New Year’s Morning…BURRR!!

·         My dear friend Alicia DeNooy & I shared an evening together for a Thai Cooking Class. Delicious!

February:
·         My friend, Sarah Beth, from Baylor came out for a ski trip to Winter Park. She was in ski school and met Alex Bonaire! He has become a good friend of mine that loves adventures and drinking as much as I do!
·         My roommate Matt & I hosted a Super Bowl party

·         Matty Pants (the roommate) turns 33! He is officially an old man. J
·         Weekend in Grand Lake with my Aunt Marlene & Uncle Bert…they taught me how to cross  country ski! I loved it! We attempted the moon light skiing that night, but it was not as successful as the day trip, but heck it made for a fun memory.
·         Celebrated my dear friend Alicia Appleby’s 31st birthday! Love you girl!!
·         This was the month I was introduced to Susan Avila & Rossi Javernick. They are crucial to mention here because they have become great friends that are in most of my stories! Love you girls.
April:
·         Rockies Opening Day! Had the day off of work and drank all day with my friends at Fado’s Bar right next to the stadium. It was the perfect day on a patio in the sun.
·         Went to the Lenka show with Alicia Appleby. It was my birthday gift to her! What a fun show and we got to meet Lenka. J
·         Attended the 1st official beer fest of the year…Breckenridge Winter Beer Festival. This also included a fun weekend at Mia’s cabin in Keystone
·         Visited my friend I’ve known the longest, Katy, and her sweet new baby, Katelynn. We had a great weekend in San Antonio. During this trip I also got to see my parents, have dinner with the one and only Travis Riley and visit my cousin Brooke and her sweet baby Izzy Ruth. It was a wonderful weekend!
·         Had the opportunity to attend the 4th Annual Solar America Cities Conference in Philly. During my trip I also got to meet up with Megan Taylor whom showed me around Philly and almost convinced me to move there…ok, not really, but I love Philly because of her excitement for the city! Megan you are the hostess with the mostest!
·         On April 30th I completed my first “race” ever. I ran in the Chick-fil-a 5K race. The reason I chose this race is because I got a free chicken sandwich at the finish line. YUMMY!
May:
·         Our 2nd Annual Moab Spring trip took place the first weekend of May. Like last year, it was a blast and I road Bar M again. It’s my favorite mountain biking trail in Moab! Alicia and Mikiah rocked it on the bikes they rented! We had a blast!
·         Mia & I did a quick trip to Keystone one Friday night to watch Harrison (aka Harry) perform at the Girl’s Only Show. It was a fun night with one of my favorite ladies and the Big Guy Harry!
·         Attended the 2nd beer festival of 2011 at A-basin. We had a group of us staying at Mia’s cabin and attend the event on Sunday, May 29th. Great times were had by all.
·         Rob meets the extended family at a BBQ at my Uncle John’s house on Monday, May 30th. Of course, everyone LOVED Rob…honestly, I don’t blame them. He is pretty great and I am luck girl to be dating him. J
·         Bryan moves out of the basement after 2 years. Wow that is an end of an error.
June:
·         Participated in Denver’s Amazing Race with my family. This year our team of 4 was me, Uncle John, Aunt Marlene, and Mark. Though we didn’t do as well as the previous year (2nd place in 2010!), we definitely had awesome costumes! Thanks Uncle John & Mark for getting everything.
·         CLASS FIVE CHAOS 2011!!! We had a wonderful weekend in Canyon City for this year’s event. There was roughly 15 of us and we had the Pleasure Way!

July:
·         Mom & Dad came out for a 10 day visit. We went to Grand Lake over the 4th of July weekend, but our trip was cut short because of a virus my dad & I got. That was not fun! Then we worked diligently and finished remodeling my basement bathroom, basement closet, my closet, installed a new toilet in my bathroom, installed a ceiling fan in the basement bedroom and painted the basement bedroom. My parents also got to meet Rob this trip. As expected…they liked him a lot too!
·         Another FUN weekend in Keystone at Mia’s cabin. Though Rob, Jason & I chose not to attend the Breckenridge Beer festival with the others and drank on Mia’s AWESOME patio for the afternoon and hungout with our furry friends. We also went on a little hike with the dogs.
·         Aunt Marlene & Uncle Bert took off for China and were kind enough to let me use the Grand Lake cabin for two weekends! The first weekend Rob & I had a weekend with our ladies (the dogs) and we hiked, laid on the doc, went to the Sagebrush for dinner, and heard the famous Arnie J. Green at the Lariat. It was a fun weekend with just the two of us. That rarely happens and we enjoyed every minute. The second weekend I had a girls weekend with my ladies, Megan, Alicia A, Alicia D, Leah D, Sara, and Liz. It was a blast with lots of girl talk! Saturday night we decided to hit up one of the local bars in Grand lake where we proceeded to get hit on from a couple of guys that graduated high school in 2008!!! That is honestly one time I’ve felt “old.”
August to date:
·         Attended the 3rd Beer Festival of the Season…Keystone Blue Grass & Brews Fest! It was a perfect day with Rob, Susan, Rossi, Mia & Lauren!
·         Attended my 4th & final beer festival of the season…Winter Park’s 2nd Annual Beer Festival. We had 2 condos and tons of fun! We also had the most pleasant woman ***sarcasm*** staying next to us…Ruth! Oh the stories of that crazy woman…there are CRAZY people out there and she is definitely one of them!
·         Took my first ever trip to Olathe, CO and Telluride, CO! We stayed with Susan’s awesome family in Olathe…did a 6 mile run (I’m training for a half marathon!) and spent the afternoon in Telluride. I love that part of Colorado and can’t wait for my next trip.

Sorry for the VERY long entry! They won’t be like this moving forward. I just wanted to get down on “paper” everything I’ve done in 2011. It’s definitely been one of the best years yet. I have a wonderful group of friends that keep my life busy and fun! In addition, I will usually post pictures. They always make the story more fun. :)

Coming up…Sheffield comes to Denver for a weekend! Stay tuned…
